Reducing Antibiotic Duration for Skin Infections in Primary Care

Study Description
This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of behavioral economics strategies in changing clinicians' prescribing behaviour of antibiotics for Skin and Soft Tissue Infections (SSTI). The study proposes a randomized trial with Epic order panels in 14 primary care clinics. Prescribers have access to user-friendly Epic order panels prepopulated with default short-course antibiotics guideline that save clinicians several clicks within the electronic medical record. Clinics with the intervention are likely to have higher rates of short course antibiotics for SSTI versus control clinics.
