Avelumab and Valproic Acid for Virus-Associated Cancer
Unknown Phase 2 NCT03357757
Study Description
This clinical trial studies the effectiveness of Avelumab and Valproic acid in treating virus-associated cancer. Valproic acid can unmask a chronic viral infection, making the virus susceptible to attack by the immune system. When combined with Avelumab, an immune therapy, the body's immune defense against cancer is enhanced. Avelumab prevents the deactivation of a lymphocyte, re-energizing a person's immune system, leading to an attack on the cancer. Although Avelumab is an effective treatment for several cancers, its effectiveness in virus-associated cancer has not yet been studied. The combination of Valproic acid and Avelumab offers hopes for better results in treating cancer.
